How can you put music and pictures on your TV using a PC with Windows 7?

Description:

It is my first post on StudentsLounge, so hi everyone J.

This week theme form MSP Voice is “How can you put music and pictures on your TV using a PC with Windows 7?”. I know that for geeks (probably many of you) it is so easy, but let me clarify things a litter bit different.
So, how to do it? It as simple as just dragging multimedia application to external monitor. Yes, yes :). Just use your TV as external display.
How to?
There are lots of guides on the net. Shortly:
1.       Plug in you TV with accurate cable.
For more details about cables and stuff,  please refer to this post on Students Lounge: http://www.msstudentlounge.com/tabid/60/default.aspx?id=495
2.       You could now use the old way: Right click on your desktop, choose ‘Screen Resolution’, …
Stop! Use new, and better way!
Press Win+P. Your eyes will see something looking like attatched image.
There are 4 options:
1. Show desktop only on computer display
2. Duplicate desktop onto projector
3. Extend desktop to projector
4.
Show desktop only on projector
You should choose between 2 and 3 – depending on what you want your computer to be in this ‘relationship’  :). If you choose 2 the screen is going to be this same as on the PC. If you choose 3, you will be given the possibility to drag application into ‘external monitor’ by mouse. You can ‘drag’ your multimedia player, and just turn on full-screen playing :).
That’s for the video… And what about sound? That simple to! Just connect your TV and PC by ‘jack to jack’ cable :). Put it in PC sound output (headphones, speakers are connected there probably) and TV sound input (microphone could be placed there either).
The situation would be paradise, if your TV would have WiFi receiver with video streaming… But I haven’t meet anyone using this kind of great tool…
Hope to be helpful :).
