Well I'm all for the Fair Tax. It would totally save the nation and our economy. The way it would work is it replaces all federal income taxes with a national retail sales tax. This would barely raise the prices on items we currently buy, and more importantly you could keep your entire paycheck. And if you are below the poverty level, you will actually get a "Prebate" check every month to compensate for the items you had to buy and pay a sales tax on.
The government would save billions of dollars because the IRS would totally go away. ;
The Fair Tax would work so well that corporations would move their companies back to the USA and employment would sky rocket. And with all those millions of new workers contributing to the economy, government revenues would increase (no more budget deficit). I can find no down-side to this idea.
Oh, there is one problem: it would take too much power away from the politicians, so it will probably never be passed into law.
