New, innovative ways of going GREEN

I recycle, turn off the lights when I'm not in a room... and know most of the basic things to do to be "green." Anyone have any cool, new ideas of how I can be more "green?"

Go solar! Ok, I bet you're looking for things that can be accomplished on a smaller budget.

We built a wind turbine in our yard using scrap parts from our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. It was awesome. Then the homeowners' association told us to take it down. That was considerably less than awesome.

And... here's a picture of the wind turbine:

So, that's my suggestion. If you have a project that requires wood or any other building materials, check out your local Habitat for Humanity ReStore before buying it new at a Home Depot or Lowes.

I agree, going green is to be started from your behavior to rcycle evrything. Don't waste the bottles, reuse again. Never waste all the plastic items, we actually can use them for many important stuff. I always try not to way my coach purses for my accessories too to follow my grean initiative in fashion.

Not sure if this would fall into the category of being innovative, but turning off your PC after you're done with it might be a good energy saver.

I would  recommend recycling your electronics instead of putting them in the trash as e-waste contains mercury and other toxics which are very harmful to the environment. You can also make a profit and be green by selling any unused mobile phones to companys like envirofone who then recycle them. When cleaning it is a good idea to use natural ingredients such as vinegar, lemon, baking soda and soaps which are more air friendly and less costly than artificial cleaning products.

hello

Some easy ways to go green are 1. pay attention to what you are cleaning with, I know most students dont clean much but when you do use clean products like from www.contecinc.com 2. recycling used electronics at a place like www.3eservicesinc.com, cuz what do you think happened to your big block phone when you switched to the blackberry or , cuz what do you think happened to your big block phone when you switched to the blackberry or Iphone? 3. Watch how high you have the heat and air on. I know since i lived in the dorms I would just blast heat and air becuase it was included in what I already paid.
